Rissa holds a bachelor’s degree in philosophy and environmental studies from Saint Mary’s College, where her academic pursuits fueled her passion for sustainability. Her background in philosophy helped her develop critical thinking and analytical skills, which she integrates into her practice and teaching of yoga.
Rissa earned her RYT 200 certification under the guidance of East + West Yoga in Bali, Indonesia. Through this Yoga Alliance-affiliated program, she honed her Vinyasa and Hatha teaching styles. She views yoga as a lifestyle rather than just an exercise and aims to share this holistic vision with the Michiana community.
Her time in Bali was truly life-changing, solidifying her dedication to using yoga as a vehicle for healing and personal growth. Rissa is particularly drawn to creating a supportive and nurturing environment where individuals can explore their inner landscapes, cultivating mindfulness and resilience before delving into deeper practices like meditation.
Currently, Rissa’s intellectual interests lie in holistic health, wellness, and human nature. This December, she will be undertaking a 300-hour YTT, in Rishikesh, India, culminating in an RYT 500 certification by the year’s end. This milestone represents not only a personal achievement but also a commitment to deepening her practice and sharing its transformative benefits with others.
