Lauren Plennert

Yoga Instructor

Lauren discovered yoga over a decade ago and immediately loved it as it was the first means that she had found to help calm and soothe her over-active and anxious mind. Since then, Lauren has practiced yoga throughout three pregnancies, discovered meditation and pranayama (breathwork), and has taught several kids mindful yoga series at her children’s school.
In 2023, Lauren made the difficult decision to leave her career of 15+ years as a CPA and internal auditor to focus on time with her family, help care for her mom, who was diagnosed with dementia, and to stay open to what paths aligned with her beliefs and passions.

Shortly thereafter, she came across an opportunity to become a certified yoga instructor and decided to do this for herself, if nothing else, as a means of self-discovery. Halfway through this training, she suffered a severe back injury that left her unable to walk, sit, stand, and drive for a few months and she still had some residual numbness in her foot and lower leg. While the physical postures were mostly out of the equation for some time, meditation, pranayama, and yoga nidra helped immensely over the difficult months of pain management and physical therapy. This experience only reinforced her belief in the holistic and healing benefits of all limbs of yoga and she discovered the overlap between yoga and her physical therapy exercises. She is set to complete her 200-hour training in May 2025.

In her spare time, she stays busy with her husband and three kids, volunteers at their school, helps take care of her mom, and enjoys time with friends and family, home projects, time in nature, and a good spreadsheet. Lauren is a true believer in the benefits of yoga, meditation, and pranayama for the whole person – mind, body, and spirit, and is especially passionate about sharing mindfulness and yoga with kids. She is excited to join the Beyond Zen tribe and share mindfulness, yoga, and meditation with the community, regardless of age and ability.
